Texas Golf Courses

Lockhart is a city in Caldwell County, Texas. It is the county seat of Caldwell County. The city of Lockhart is named after Byrd Lockhart, an assistant surveyor and reportedly the first Anglo to set foot in Caldwell County. The Texas Legislature has proclaimed Lockhart as The Barbecue Capital of Texas due to the fact that Lockhart has four major barbecue restaurants: Black's Barbecue, Smitty's Market, Kreuz Barbecue, and Chisholm Trail Barbecue. Lockhart is also home to the Dr. Eugene Clark Library; the oldest operating public library in Texas. www.lockhart-tx.org
