Groves is a city in Jefferson County, Texas. The population was 15,733 at the 2000 census. Known for its many pecan trees this bedroom community is named for "Asa E. Groves" a Port Arthur, texas Land developer. Groves offers Public library, tennis courts, golf course, community spray park, swimming pool, five ball fields, five community parks, nearby community theater, close to Lake Sabine, local beaches with salt water fishing, close to Neches River fresh water fishing, and opportunities for water sports. As well as its annual Texas Pecan Festival, which commemorates the planting of hundreds of pecan trees by Asa Groves.
